The Last Days February 08, 2015 We hear talk of "the last days", "the of the world" and "the end of time". Most of this is based upon either a misunderstanding, or worse, a deliberate misapplication, of certain scriptures. The last days lie not in our future, but in our past, for they referred to the events leading up to the fall of Jerusalem and Judah in AD 70. - Bernie Parsons |

The Last Days

The life and death of Jesus Christ in the flesh is the most important
event in the history of the human race. Everything led up to that, and
everything since was shaped by that. It was so significant that the end
of the old ways was referred to as the last days.
Isaiah 2:1 "The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah
and Jerusalem.
2 And it shall come to pass in the
last days, that the mountain
of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains,
and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto
it.
3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the
mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will
teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion
shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem."
Micah 4:1 "But in the last days
it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall
be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted
above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the
mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will
teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall
go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem."
Acts 2:14 "But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice,
and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at
Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third
hour of the day.
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the
last days, saith God, I will
pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters
shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men
shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those
days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth
beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood,
before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of
the Lord shall be saved.”
Something changed with the preaching of John the Baptizer.
13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied
until John."
Luke 16:16 "The law and the prophets
were until John: since that time
the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it."
When Jesus died, He nailed the ordinances to the cross and tore down the
partition.
Hebrews 1:1 "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in
time past unto the fathers
by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days
spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by
whom also he made the worlds;”
Mark 13:2 "And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great
buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall
not be thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter
and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,
4 Tell us, when shall these
things be? and what shall be the sign
when all these things shall be
fulfilled?"
Luke 21:22 "For these be the
days of vengeance, that all
things which are written may be fulfilled."
Luke 21:32 "Verily I say unto you,
This generation shall not pass
away, till all be fulfilled."
James 5:1 "Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that
shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a
witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have
heaped treasure together for the
last days.
4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields,
which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which
have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have
nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold,
the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath
long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts:
for the coming of the Lord
draweth nigh.
9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned:
behold, the judge standeth
before the door."
1 Peter 1:18 “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with
corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation
received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish
and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but
was manifest in these last times
for you,"
Revelation 1:1 "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him,
to shew unto his servants things which must
shortly come to pass; and he
sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus
Christ, and of all things that he saw."
Revelation 10:5 "And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon
the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven,
and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that
therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there
should be time no longer:
7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin
to sound, the mystery of God
should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the
prophets."
Revelation 22:10 "And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the
prophecy of this book: for the
time is at hand.
11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy,
let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous
still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
12 And, behold, I come quickly;
and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall
be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the
last.
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right
to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers,
and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the
churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and
morning star."
Revelation 22:20 "He which testifieth these things saith,
Surely I come quickly. Amen.
Even so, come, Lord Jesus."
The last days resulted in the fulfilling of all of the Law and the
prophets. The last days signaled the end of the Law of Moses and temple
worship, replacing them with the blood of Jesus, forgiveness of sins,
and freedom in Christ. The last days were the days of vengeance upon,
first, the disobedient Jews, and next, the disobedient gentiles.
The last days occurred in the first century AD.
