Teaching Daily October 25, 2015 The earliest Christians were a lively bunch of believers. They were so excited that the promised Messiah had arrived that they discussed the scriptures daily in the temple, and met from house to house to discuss the events and the significance of the scriptures. Maybe we can learn from them, have a lot more enthusiasm, and increase our knowledge of Christ and God, while drawing closer to our spiritual brothers and sisters. - Bernie Parsons |

Acts 2:42 "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and
fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done
by the apostles.
44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as
every man had need.
46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and
breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and
singleness of heart,
47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord
added to the church daily such as should be saved."
The first Christians were bound closely by the blood of Jesus Christ and
the hope of the resurrection. They had such love for God and their
brothers and sisters in Christ that they interacted on a daily basis.
We sometimes seem to get caught up in “Sunday” religion, wherein some
forget that we live in Christ every day. That means that our
relationships with family and friends necessarily include learning more
about Jesus and the word of God, and then teaching what we learn to
others.
Deuteronomy 4:5 "Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even
as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land
whither ye go to possess it.
6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your
understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these
statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding
people.
7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as
the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so
righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou
forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from
thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy
sons' sons;
10 Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb,
when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will
make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days
that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their
children."
19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou
sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou
liest down, and when thou risest up.
20 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and
upon thy gates:"
Ephesians 6:1 "Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is
right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with
promise;)
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up
in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."
In the home, the father has the responsibility of teaching his children
the laws and ways of God. As the mother is often in the home while the
father is working, she also bears a responsibility to bring them up in
the Lord.
10 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if
she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she
have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good
work."
The older women are also instructed to teach the younger women the godly
ways.
2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in
charity, in patience.
3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh
holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good
things;
4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their
husbands, to love their children,
5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own
husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded."
We find ourselves instructing others in different circumstances because
we must learn God’s will in order to teach it. A man and his wife worked
as a team to privately instruct others in the ways of Christ.
25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in
the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord,
knowing only the baptism of John.
26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and
Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the
way of God more perfectly.
27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote,
exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped
them much which had believed through grace:
28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by
the scriptures that Jesus was Christ."
Philip had four daughters who prophesied.
9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy."
We can assume that this was not in the gathering of the called out when
they assembled to study. Women are not to teach in the assembly as they
do at home or in private. Instead they are to remain silent.
9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel,
with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or
pearls, or costly array;
10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the
man, but to be in silence.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the
transgression."
35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at
home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?
37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him
acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments
of the Lord.
38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant."
Some question why God would tell the women to remain silent in assembly.
Apostle Paul addresses this.
1 Corinthians 11:8 "For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of
the man.
9 Neither was the man
created for the woman; but the woman for the man."
1 Corinthians 11:11 "Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman,
neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. As we live in Christ, we continue to study, learn and teach. If we are like the early believers, we will find ourselves drawn to one another to do this study on a regular basis, and will look forward to frequent fellowship. We need all of the knowledge of God’s word and encouragement to obey it that we can muster.
