They Will Kill You January 17, 2016 The Christian life is fraught with danger, often from our own family and friends. Those who love darkness do not want their ungodly deeds exposed to the light of righteous living. If they get a chance, some will kill you, and many others probably wish that they could. We need to understand that we stand in jeopardy all of the time. Our faith in God and His deliverance -- whether in life or by death -- is paramount to overcoming any fear of our enemies.- Bernie Parsons |

They Will Kill You

Modern American Christians try to convince themselves, and one another,
that Christ will always shield them from illness, poverty and
persecution. They say things like, “If God brings you to it, He will
bring you through it” and other catchy sayings that men and women
invent. These people do not study the scriptures, or they would know
better.
Sickness
Matthew 9:12 "But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be
whole need not a physician, but they that are sick."
1 Timothy 5:23 "Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy
stomach's sake and thine often infirmities."
2 Corinthians 12:7 "And lest I should be exalted above measure through
the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the
flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted
above measure.
8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from
me.
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength
is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory
in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in
necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when
I am weak, then am I strong."
Poverty
2 Corinthians 8:9 "For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that,
though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through
his poverty might be rich."
2 Corinthians 8:1 "Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of
God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;
2 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and
their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
3 For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they
were willing of themselves;"
James 2:5 "Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of
this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath
promised to them that love him?"
Suffering, Danger and Death
Romans 8:16 "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we
are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with
Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified
together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy
to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
2 Corinthians 6:4 "But in all things approving ourselves as the
ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in
distresses,
5 In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in
fastings;
6 By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy
Ghost, by love unfeigned,
7 By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of
righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
8 By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers,
and yet true;
9 As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as
chastened, and not killed;
10 As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as
having nothing, and yet possessing all things."
John 16:1 "These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be
offended.
2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that
whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known
the Father, nor me.
4 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye
may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto
you at the beginning, because I was with you.
5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me,
Whither goest thou?
6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your
heart."
2 Thessalonians 1:3 "We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren,
as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the
charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your
patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye
endure:
5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye
may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to
them that trouble you;
7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be
revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that
obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence
of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;"
Matthew 10:16 "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves:
be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and
they will scourge you in their synagogues;
18 And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a
testimony against them and the Gentiles.
19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall
speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which
speaketh in you.
21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father
the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and
cause them to be put to death.
22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that
endureth to the end shall be saved.
23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for
verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel,
till the Son of man be come.
24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.
25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the
servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house
Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?
26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not
be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear
in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the
soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in
hell.
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not
fall on the ground without your Father.
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess
also before my Father which is in heaven.
33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before
my Father which is in heaven.
34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send
peace, but a sword.
35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the
daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother
in law.
36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and
he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not
worthy of me.
39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life
for my sake shall find it."
The footsteps of Jesus may well lead us into sickness, poverty and
danger, including death for our faith in Christ and in God Almighty.
Where He leads, we shall follow.
